ABD was established in 2000 to help organisations develop their managers in order to improve organisational performance. We know that effective leadership is the single biggest influence on organisational climate and that people perform best where managers create great climate, therefore the work we do can make a very real and positive difference.

My background

With a background in HR, and over 20 years experience as a qualified learning & development professional, I have been privileged to work in sectors as varied as construction, television and media, fire service, social housing, food manufacturing and retail – bringing a pragmatic, practical, down to earth approach to everything we do.

Managerial development

We help managers be responsible for their own people agenda and build effective relationships through open, honest, frank dialogue. To recruit the right people, manage performance, investigate disciplinary matters and manage sickness absence, operating within the requirements of employment law and creating positive relationships. In helping organisations create positive climate, it is imperative that we also inform and educate on well-being and mental health, and I have taken it a step further, qualifying as one of just 16 tutors with the National Centre for Suicide Prevention Training, delivering the gold standard in suicide prevention. THE National Qualification, accredited by City & Guilds.

Over the years we have been privileged to have worked with literally thousands of manages, within projects such as:-

Frequently Asked Questions

After 18 years in business we do have a lot of materials and content already in place but that’s a good thing – we can start with some of that as a foundation but then work on it, change it, tweak it, adapt it, add to it so that it becomes specific to you. That means you get exactly what you want more quickly and at less cost because we already have a start point and the experience of having delivered it.

We typically charge a day rate for our training delivery that normally includes design time – that way you can control your budget very easily knowing exactly what the cost is going to be. This makes a workshop for up to 12 people very cost effective, with a price per person for a bespoke programme just a fraction of the cost of a public course.

Our coaching rates are negotiable depending on your circumstances. We have discounted rates for sole traders who are just starting out and packages available for organisations who might have a few candidates for us to work with – whatever we can do to keep the costs down and within your budget, we will, but we are not cheap – you will always be able to find someone who will do it cheaper, but we provide quality at good value.

Yes. We can. We have worked on a number of projects where we have designed the package and then trained employees to deliver. It’s a staged process whereby the final design is signed off and then we work with your own staff to enable them to take over and run with it going forward.

If you want to train trainers to deliver the Suicide First Aid programme, we can support you with that too – enabling them to qualify with the City & Guilds UK National Qualification. Safe and supported for tutor development too.
